Recruiting / Equipment Needed


CLOTHING
Frock coats (gray or butternut) - 1861-1862
Sack Coats (gray or butternut) - 1862-1865
Shell Jackets (gray or butternut) - 1862-1865

while several Texas units wore black trim during the early part of the war - specifically the 1st Texas, Light blue and French blue are also acceptable.

Greatcoats - if you have one, they are okay if not, you don't need one.

Trousers - must be true wool or jean cloth (no polyester or blue jeans). Mounted trousers also okay if period.

Military vests - can have any type of button as long as period. (prefer Texas star, "I" for infantry or "CS"). Must be wool or jean cloth and can be in any color (gray, brown, butternut, cadet gray or richmond gray).

You do not need a shell jacket, vest or frock coat to start out - a muslin or cotton period shirt with suspenders and wool pants is acceptable as a basic uniform.

HEADWARE

CS Kepis, forage caps, bummers, straw hats, slouch hats, felt slouch hats, (colors - any shade of gray, butternut or black) No cowboy hats allowed and no leather kepis with confederate flags on top.

A Texas star hatpin should be worn on the top of the kepi or the front of a bummer or slouch hat.
